Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) has presented a strategy for the development of women’s football for the years 2025–2029.
Today, the official presentation of the 2025–2029 strategy for the development of women’s football was held by the Uzbekistan Football Association. The event was attended by UFA leadership, coaches, players, industry experts, and representatives of the media.
During the presentation, the main strategic goals and directions for the development of women’s football were announced, including support for young talents, development of football infrastructure, participation in international competitions, and plans to increase the popularity of the sport.
UFA Senior Vice-President Ravshan Irmatov spoke about the importance of this strategy:
“Developing women’s football is one of the most important areas of UFA’s activities. A strategic plan has been developed to ensure thorough preparations for the Women’s Asian Cup, which will be hosted by our country in 2029, and to reform the sector during this period. Previously, there was no Women’s Football Development Department at the association. To increase the number of female leaders in the sector, we have been working with specialists like Yuliya Panina and Maftuna Zakirova, who have set ambitious goals. They have implemented numerous projects in collaboration with FIFA and AFC in areas such as international competitions, refereeing, and coaching.
The encouraging part is that the number of female commissioners has been increasing in recent years. They have been participating in international competitions and enriching their experience. Specialists from the Women’s Football Department are now capable of organizing any tournament at a high level,” said UFA Senior Vice-President.
Based on this strategy, the development of women’s football at various stages will be ensured over the next five years, particularly improving club football, expanding the participation of girls and women in mass football through sports schools, academies, and other organizations, introducing international best practices, and preparing our athletes thoroughly for major competitions.
