The Referees Academy has been established by the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) with the goal of advancing the Uzbekistan football refereeing system, improving the theoretical knowledge and practical experience of young referees.
Today, a meeting was held at the Chigatoy sports base with the participation of UFA leadership, experienced instructors, and promising young referees to mark the official opening of the academy. During the event, participants were provided with detailed information about the academy’s main objectives, educational programs, and the opportunities created for young referees.
In his speech, Ravshan Irmatov, the Senior Vice-President of UFA, emphasized that this project will play a significant role not only in the development of football refereeing in our country but also in the region. He also stated that this initiative, which has not been previously implemented, will serve to align the country’s refereeing system with global standards.
“A football referee must know every rule and detail perfectly and always work on improving themselves. Refereeing is not only about knowledge but also about dedication and a high level of responsibility,” said Ravshan Irmatov.
The Referees Academy is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the skills and qualifications needed for young specialists to manage games on the international stage, thus contributing to the development of Uzbek football’s prestige and quality.
The new academy is not just an educational center but also provides young referees with opportunities for experience exchange, analysis, and continuous growth.
It is worth mentioning that the educational process at the academy consists of six modules, with 25 selected referees participating in the first module of the course from May 6–12. Referees who successfully complete the training courses will be recommended to manage matches in the First League, Pro League, Super League, and AFC (Asian Football Confederation)-classified tournaments.
