Head coach of Uzbekistan U-20 women’s national team Ilkhom Khanjariev expressed his opinion before the U-20 women’s Asian Cup:

We have been preparing for the Asian Cup for a year. It was certain that this tournament will be held in our country in 2022, and a plan was developed by the Uzbekistan Football Association. In February 2023, we took part in the International Friendly Tournament, in March we took part in the Asian Cup qualifiers held in Thailand. In July, we played against the Belarusian national team in Minsk. In November, we played two friendly matches with the national team of the Republic of Korea. Currently, we are paying more attention to the physical fitness of the players.

In the tournament, not only Asian, but also world-class teams such as Japan, the DPR Korea, Korea Republic, PR China and Australia will compete for the victory. We have very difficult games ahead of us. This competition will encourage further development of women’s football in our country. Our main goal is to score a good result in the group stage and qualify for the World Championship.
