Uzbekistan U-16 national team, currently preparing for the AFC U-16 Asian Cup, has wrapped up its latest training camp. Under the guidance of head coach Sergey Chigodayev, the team played five matches during the camp, winning four and losing once.

The first stage of the camp took place in Tashkent, where our youngsters defeated OKMK, a 2nd league representative, with a convincing 6-1 score before heading abroad for international friendlies.

The following matches were held in Podgorica (Montenegro) and Budapest (Hungary):

Montenegro 2:3 Uzbekistan
Montenegro 1:6 Uzbekistan
Hungary 3:2 Uzbekistan
Hungary 1:2 Uzbekistan

In total, our national team scored 19 goals in 5 matches:

  • Laziz Abduraimov and Rustam Aliyev – 4 goals

  • Suhrob Sadirjonov – 3 goals

  • Farruh Hayitmurodov – 2 goals

  • Sog‘inch Marupov, Habib Toxirov, Sunnat Ibragimov, Odilkhon Orifkhonov, Ahrorbek Ravshanbekov and Muhammad Mamatov – 1 goal

Following the final match, head coach Sergey Chigodayev shared his thoughts:

“In the second match against Hungary, our players showed a much more disciplined game. Of course, it was a match of two different halves, as we conceded an early goal. However, the boys managed to take control and secure the victory.

Playing against such opponents gives us invaluable experience. I would like to thank everyone who helped organize this camp, especially the UFA leadership, the national teams, and the international relations department. The players are becoming more confident and improving game by game.

The Asian Cup is just around the corner. We are now heading back to Tashkent, and I believe such matches will help us prepare well for the tournament,” said Sergey Chigodayev.
