Director of FIFA for Asia and Oceania regions:
“Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,
It is both an honor and a privilege to address you today at this important moment for the Uzbekistan Football Association. First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected president of the Uzbekistan FA. We wish you every success in this role and trust that your leadership will continue to guide football in Uzbekistan towards new heights.
I also want to commend the Uzbekistan FA for conducting this election congress in full compliance with FIFA statutes. Your commitment to transparency and good governance reflects the core values that FIFA promotes worldwide.
Over the past few years, we have witnessed remarkable progress in football development across Uzbekistan. This growth can be attributed to many factors, but one of the most significant is the strong relationship fostered between FIFA and the government of Uzbekistan. FIFA President Gianni Infantino has met on multiple occasions with His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Their discussions have focused on various initiatives for football development, leading to the launch of the national training center—an essential project that will serve as the new home for Uzbekistan’s national teams.
This collaborative spirit was further evident when Uzbekistan hosted the first-ever FIFA World Cup in Central Asia—the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2024. This tournament was recognized as the best FIFA Futsal World Cup ever, a testament to Uzbekistan’s dedication and hard work. It was an unforgettable event that showcased Uzbekistan’s capability to organize world-class football tournaments and highlighted the nation’s passion for the game.
Looking ahead, we remain optimistic that Uzbekistan will continue to play a key role on the global football stage. We hope to further strengthen our relationship and see Uzbekistan host another FIFA World Cup or even a FIFA Congress in the near future.
In closing, I congratulate the new president once again and thank the Uzbekistan Football Association for its ongoing partnership with FIFA.
Thank you”, said Balasingam Sanjevan, FIFA’s Director for Asia and Oceania regions.
